Organizational Structure

The Competence Network Heart Failure is an association of physicians, scientists, academics, research institutes and self-help groups governed by the present by-laws.

Organs of the competence network include the members' assembly, the extended management board, the management board, the chairman of the competence network, the network central office and the scientific advisory board.

Members' assembly

The members' assembly is comprised of the members and associate members of the competence network.

Extended management board

The superordinate management and monitoring body forms the extended management board of the competence network, which in turn is comprised of the managers with primary responsibility for the subprojects or their deputies. They are members of the management board by virtue of their office. The primary duties of the extended management board include decisions regarding the structure of the network as well as the support of the network central office and the management board, particularly in conjunction with quality guidelines.

Management board

The management board consists of the chairman of the network and his deputy, the two managing directors, the director of the Center for Study Coordination, Study Management and Biometrics (CSSB) as well as a further subproject manager.

Chairman

The Competence Network Heart Failure is headed and represented externally by its chairman. The chairman and his or her deputy are elected from among the management board members for a period of five years.

Network central office

The Competence Network Heart Failure is coordinated by the network central office, which promotes the implementation of network goals in all areas throughout the network. The network central office is headed by a scientific managing director and a commercial managing director.

Scientific advisory board

The external scientific advisory board counsels the extended management board on scientific issues and evaluates the selection of new projects. Moreover, it acts as a body of expert opinion for interim expert opinions for the sponsor. The scientific advisory board is composed of national and international scientific experts who are appointed to their tasks by mutual agreement with the project sponsor.
